Pacoima Entrepreneur Center

    About

Located in Pacoima, California, the Pacoima Entrepreneur Project was developed for the Valley Economic Development Center as part of a broader initiative to revitalize the local economic development zone and support long term community growth. Completed in 2008 with a construction budget of $4.5 million, the project was delivered through a design bid build process and serves as a hub for entrepreneurship, workforce development, and small business support.

The 14,000 square foot, three story commercial office building provides flexible training and workspace environments designed to support emerging business owners and local job creation. Open office layouts on each level encourage collaboration and adaptability, creating an accessible and productive environment for a range of business and educational programs.

At the ground level, floor to ceiling glass enhances visibility and engagement along the pedestrian streetscape, strengthening the building’s connection to the surrounding community. The third floor is stepped back to reduce the overall massing of the structure while creating an outdoor terrace that introduces additional gathering and workspace opportunities.

The architectural language draws inspiration from the work of Luis Barragán through the use of simple geometric forms, vibrant plaster surfaces, and design elements influenced by Spanish and Moroccan architecture. A central water feature anchors the rear garden, reinforcing the relationship between landscape and built form while creating a calm and contemplative outdoor environment.

Integrated energy and water efficient systems, sustainable materials, and comprehensive building commissioning contribute to LEED equivalent performance, reflecting the project’s commitment to responsible and forward looking design.

Blending economic development, community engagement, and sustainable architecture, the Pacoima Entrepreneur Project serves as both a catalyst for local opportunity and a contemporary civic presence within the neighborhood.

Project initiated and led as Design Director as a co-founder / partner at QDG Architecture.
